Creating a working with me page is a great way to help others in your team get to know you. You can see an example and explainer video below.
Working with Danny at Acme LtdWhat to include? đź“„
Remember that this document is for other people. So try to include stuff that will be useful for your coworkers. This might include…
- A short video introducing yourself.
- Your contact details, usernames, location etc.
- Information about where and when you work, and how to contact you.
- Information about what you do at work, what teams you work on etc.
- Information about your hobbies and personal life.
- Any requests you have about how to work with you which are outside of your companies norms.
- Answers to questions you get asked regularly
You might also consider including information about…
- How you prefer to receive feedback
- Things you know you find difficult or tend to be bad at
- Your current goals (personal or work)
- What your what to do if you’re off sick and someone needs to contact you urgently,
- etc.
Why tho? 🤔
Having a working with me page allows us to share the link with our colleagues in answer to a bunch of basic questions. But there are a host of other advantages…
- The act of intentionally creating a page like this is a valuable exercise in reflection, and helps folks think about how they can best help their colleagues.
- They’re a great reference for others when looking for simple stuff like personal emails, trello usernames etc.
- It’s a great way for new starters of folks changing role/team to introduce themselves.
- New starters can begin to get to know their colleagues by reading other’s pages.
- Managers can use them in 121s to spark interesting conversations (and potentially keep track of personal goals etc)
- They encourage transparency.
Creating your own working with me page ✏️
If you use Notion, you can duplicate the template below and customize it however you want.
